Outstanding learning, outstanding learners.

Expectations are higher than ever and our exam system is changing, raising the bar for many of our learners.  How can we raise achievement and help ourselves and other teachers deliver maximum progress?  This workshop will look at strategies to create outstanding LEARNING in the classroom and demonstrate coaching techniques to achieve excellent results.

Objectives

At the end of the course participants will be able to:
Understand how to deliver ‘outstanding’ teaching and learning to meet Ofsted requirements
Develop excellent learning strategies in the classroom with many practical activities to try
Use an effective coaching method to help teachers and learners develop a mindset for continuous improvement
Use assessment as part of the learning process and ensure feedback supports good progress
Take away various resources to use back at school and create a personal action plan

Draft course outline

  • Exploring the needs of 21st century learners and the current educational context including Ofsted expectations
  • Mood and mindset for learning
  • Exploring the habits of outstanding learners
  • Practical strategies to use in the classroom for raising achievement
  • Engaging starters and lesson activities
  • Perfect plenaries
  • Great feedback and DIRT (dedicated improvement and reflection time)
  • Mindsets of the best teachers
  • The power of beliefs and values for teachers and schools
  • Using a 7 minute coaching model to help teachers progress towards outstanding teaching
